Companies House Identity Verification
Written by Graham Coady •
What It Means for You
From 18 November 2025, Companies House will require all company directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) to verify their identity. Without this, it will not be possible to file a Confirmation Statement (CS01).
This is a Companies House requirement – not a CooperFaure policy – and applies to every UK company.
What’s changing
From 18 November 2025, a CS01 can only be filed if all directors and PSCs are verified.
Verification is expected to be a one-off event; once complete, a personal identity code can be used for all current and future roles.
New appointments after this date will need to complete verification around the time of appointment.
Two options for verification
Option 1: Self-verification (no charge)
Directors and PSCs can complete verification directly with Companies House.
You will need a GOV.UK One Login (a free government login).
Typical documents include a valid passport or UK driving licence and proof of address (e.g. utility bill or bank statement).
We’ll complete the Companies House verification on your behalf.
We’ll confirm completion and record your identity code for future use.
Our pricing
As part of our Confirmation Statement service (£74 per CS01), we already maintain a record of directors and PSCs, so we know who needs to be verified and can reach the right people.
£95 per individual
£85 per individual if a company has more than 3 directors/PSCs
£75 per new appointment after November 2025
What’s covered: admin time, secure document handling, interaction with Companies House, and confirmation/recording of identity codes.
What happens next
In mid-October 2025, we’ll send each client a short form to collect contact details (name and email) for all directors and PSCs. Each person can then choose self-verification or our agent service. We’ll guide everyone step-by-step.
How to prepare now
Ensure directors/PSCs have current passports or UK driving licences.
Encourage them to set up a GOV.UK One Login in advance.
Look out for our October email with the form and next steps.
